After shutting out North Texas SC at home last weekend, St Louis CITY2 are back on the road to face first place Tacoma Defiance this Saturday at Starfire Sports Complex in Tukwila, WA. Kickoff is scheduled for 9 p.m. CST and can be seen live on mlsnextpro.com.

In their last outing, CITY2 cruised to a 2-0 win over North Texas at Ralph Korte Stadium in Edwardsville, Ill. Vitor Dias won and converted a penalty kick in the first half, before Wan Kuzain rocketed a long-range effort into the top corner of the net to put the game to rest in the second half. Roman Bürki was in net to capture his first and CITY2’s seventh clean sheet of the season.

Tacoma Defiance currently leads the Western Conference standings with 37 points, one point ahead of CITY2 who sits in second place with a game in hand. Tacoma Defiance have scored the most goals (47) in the league this season, with 12 of those coming in the last three games. Tacoma is led by midfielder Marlon Vargas who has scored 11 goals off 13 shots on target this season.

Dias’ goal against North Texas SC puts him five goals for the season, two behind Josh Dolling who is the leading goal scorer for CITY2. Akil Watts, last week’s man of the match, leads the team in assists (4) and is also third in goals scored with four.

When the two sides faced off earlier this season, CITY2 edged Tacoma Defiance 4-3 in a thrilling battle that came down to the wire after Tacoma threatened with a late comeback. CITY2 hope to maintain their unbeaten record (5-0-1) on the road, in what is set to be an exciting MLS NEXT Pro matchup for fans.
