Weeklong food drive highlighted by donation event with CITY SC players on Thursday, Aug. 6th at the Lindenwood Schnucks on First Capitol Drive in St. Charles
Donations to benefit Operation Food Search
St. Louis CITY SC and Schnucks are once again joining forces to help fight food insecurity across the St. Louis region with the annual CITY x Schnucks Food Drive benefiting Operation Food Search. From August 5-11, fans and community members can visit any Schnucks location in the St. Louis metro area to donate nonperishable food items and join CITY SC in helping kick hunger in our region.
As part of the weeklong, regional food drive, CITY SC first team players Miguel Perez, Tomáš Ostrák and Tyson Pearce will make a special appearance at the Lindenwood Schnucks (1900 First Capitol Drive, St. Charles, MO 63301) on Thursday, Aug. 6, from 6:00-7:00 p.m. Those who make an in-person donation at the event will be able to meet the players, take photos and get autographs.
According to Operation Food Search, Missouri’s food insecurity rate is estimated at 12.7%, with rates as high as 18.4% in some areas the organization serves. One in six children in Operation Food Search’s service area is food insecure. Every month, Operation Food Search provides food and services to more than 200,000 people in the St. Louis bi-state region through a network of hundreds of partners, including CITY SC and Schnucks.
"Our food drive with Schnucks is always an incredible reminder of what we can accomplish when our community comes together,” said Ken Earley, Director of Community Relations for St. Louis CITY SC. “Partnering with Schnucks and Operation Food Search not only brings awareness to food insecurity in our region but turns compassion into action. We are so grateful for the generosity of our fans and community members, whose support throughout the week will make a meaningful difference for those facing hunger.”
“Fighting food insecurity and hunger is central to our mission of nourishing people’s lives, and we’re proud to continue our decades-long partnership with Operation Food Search and excited to team up with CITY SC once again,” said Schron Jackson, Director of Community Engagement & Customer Care at Schnucks. “With the help of our dedicated customers, together we can make a real difference in the lives of those most in need in the St. Louis area.”
"Food insecurity is a major challenge in St. Louis, but it is a problem that is solvable," said Operation Food Search President & CEO Kristen Wild. "OFS is thankful for the support of Schnucks, CITY SC, and the community. Their generosity helps us build a healthier and more vibrant region."
