Just three minutes into the second half, Velde scored a third for Portland. Daniel Edelman responded for St. Louis ten minutes later, making it 3-1. The two sides last met on March 1 at Snapdragon Stadium, where CITY SC fell 2-0. San Diego opened the scoring in the third minute through Anders Dreyer before Marcus Ingvartsen doubled the hosts’ lead in the 54th minute to secure the victory.Â
The upcoming match marks the fourth meeting between the clubs in MLS regular-season play and the second and final meeting of the 2026 season. San Diego holds a 2-0-1 record across the first three meetings, including a 2-0 win earlier this season and a 1-0 victory at Energizer Park in May 2025, with the inaugural meeting between the clubs ending in a scoreless draw in March 2025.Â
Scouting San DiegoÂ
San Diego FC enters Saturday’s match following a 4-1 defeat to Vancouver Whitecaps FC on Wednesday. Prior to that result, San Diego played to consecutive 2-2 draws against Seattle Sounders FC and LA Galaxy, extending its winless run to 10 games late in the regular season. Forward Anders Dreyer leads San Diego with 14 goals and 13 assists, while Marcus Ingvartsen is second with 12 goals on the season.
