Midfielder Célio Pompeu Undergoes Successful Lower Leg Surgery

St. Louis CITY SC midfielder Célio Pompeu underwent successful surgery on Sunday to repair an ankle dislocation and fibula fracture. Pompeu will be sidelined for the remainder of the 2024 MLS Season and faces at least a nine-month rehabilitation before returning to competition.

Pompeu, 24, was having a career season through just 17 matches. The Brazilian midfielder tallied three goals, three assists, 15 games started and 1,246 minutes played, all of which surpassed his previous career highs.

St. Louis CITY SC (3-4-9, 18 pts) returns to CITYPARK for back-to-back matches in a week. CITY SC hosts the Colorado Rapids on Wednesday and then Atlanta United FC on Saturday with both matches kicking off at 7:30 p.m. CT. All St. Louis matches are available with an MLS Season Pass subscription, located on the Apple TV app.
