St Louis CITY2 made MLS NEXT Pro history, claiming their eighth consecutive win defeating Austin FC II 4-2 on Friday night at Parmer Field. CITY2 started the scoring in the 12th minute, as Miguel Perez scored off a corner kick from Wan Kuzain. Just five minutes later, Mykhi Joyner converted a penalty to make it 2-0. Joyner added his second goal of the night in the 24th minute, off an assist from Brendan McSorley. Wan Kuzain then got on the scoresheet, tallying his first goal of the season in the 39th minute. CITY2’s strong first-half performance limited Austin FC II to zero shots on goal.

After 90 minutes, CITY2 earned all three points and maintained their place at the top of the MLS NEXT Pro standings with 38 points and 12 wins. The team’s eight-match win streak is the longest in both MLS NEXT Pro and CITY2 history.

St Louis CITY2 returns home to Energizer Park as they face Ventura County FC next Wednesday, July 16 at 7:00 p.m. CT.
