St. Louis CITY SC fell 3-2 in a tightly contested match to Minnesota United FC in the U.S. Open Cup Round of 16 at Allianz Field. Minnesota opened the scoring in the 10th minute with a goal from Kelvin Yeboah and maintained the 1-0 lead into halftime. CITY SC got on the board with a goal from Marcel Hartel and just 10 minutes later grabbed the 2-1 lead from a header by João Klauss. Anthony Markanich tied the match for the Loons in the 85th minute and eventually scored his second of the night and the game winner right before stoppage time, helping Minnesota advance to the quarterfinals of the U.S. Open Cup. St. Louis will resume MLS play this Saturday, May 24 traveling to Commerce City to face Colorado Rapids at 8:00 p.m. CT.
