St. Louis CITY SC defeated Minnesota United FC 4-2 at Energizer Park on Saturday night. Minnesota forward Tomás Chancalay opened the scoring in the fifth minute, but Daniel Edelman equalized for CITY SC in the 19th minute, scoring his fourth goal of the season. Shortly after, Carlo Holse gave St. Louis the lead in the 22nd minute finishing off an assist from Conrad Wallem. Rafael Navarro scored his first goal at Energizer Park in the 38th minute to give St. Louis a 3-1 advantage at halftime.
In the second half, Navarro struck again from the penalty spot in the 57th minute, recording back-to-back braces in his first three games for St. Louis. The Brazilian's second goal also marked the first time a CITY SC player has recorded a brace in his home debut. Kelvin Yeboah gave Minnesota their second goal of the night from the penalty spot in the 61st minute. The win extended the club’s unbeaten streak to 16 matches across all competitions and 15 in MLS regular season play.
St. Louis CITY SC returns to action on Wednesday, September 16 when they travel to face the Colorado Rapids in the U.S. Open Cup Semifinal at DICK's Sporting Goods Park with kickoff set for 8:30 p.m. CT.
