St. Louis CITY SC picked up a point at Providence Park on Wednesday night, drawing 2-2 against the Portland Timbers to extend their unbeaten streak to 14 MLS matches. CITY SC hit the ground running with newly acquired Designated Player Rafael Navarro finding the back of the net 34 seconds into the match, marking the fastest goal in CITY SC’s young history. Navarro scored his second in the 51st minute to become the fastest player in club history to record a brace.Â
New Club, Same NavarroÂ
A week after St. Louis CITY SC signed Navarro from the Colorado Rapids, Navarro made his first start for his new club. The Brazilian striker gave fans a glimpse of his ability in front of goal, becoming the fastest player to record a brace in club history. Navarro opened his CITY SC account after only 34 seconds, the fastest goal ever scored in club history, and followed up with his second 50 minutes later. With the performance, the Brazilian striker earned a spot on the Team of the Matchday squad, and his brace brings his total to 12 goals and four assists in MLS this season.Â
St. Louis CITY SC vs. Minnesota UnitedÂ
Saturday’s match will be the first meeting of the season between the two sides, but CITY SC comes into the match on a 14-match unbeaten streak in MLS. The Loons have had the upper hand in the series, winning six of the last seven matches across all competitions between the clubs, with the last victory for St. Louis coming in the 2023 season.Â

Minnesota United sits in 11th place in the Western Conference standings, with 29 points and a 7-9-8 record. The Loons are coming off back-to-back defeats, a 5-4 loss against the Portland Timbers and a 2-1 loss to FC Dallas. Minnesota has been better on the road than at home this season, holding an away record of 5-5-2 and scoring 23 goals during that stretch. In total, they have scored 35 goals and conceded 39 goals.
