Last Time Out 

St. Louis CITY SC earned a 4-2 victory over Minnesota United FC at Energizer Park last Saturday but also followed that win with an even more impressive 3-0 victory over Colorado Rapids in the U.S. Open Cup semifinals on Wednesday night. The win pushed CITY SC’s unbeaten streak to 17 matches across all competitions. CITY SC’s three unanswered goals were scored by Sangbin Jeong, Simon Becher and Alex Mǎțan who notched his first goal for the club. Tomas Totland and Conrad Wallem both picked up an assist in the match. 

Historic Unbeaten Streak 

CITY SC’s 17-match unbeaten streak across all competitions is the longest in club’s history. The run began with a 1-0 road victory over the Colorado Rapids and has seen St. Louis climb from 14th place in the Western Conference to fifth. In league play, the team has gone 16 consecutive matches without a loss, boasting an 11-0-5 record. St. Louis’ 16-match unbeaten streak in the regular season is tied for first among such streaks across the last 10 MLS seasons. During its current run, St. Louis has scored 37 goals, kept three clean sheets and conceded just 19 goals in the last 16 regular season matches. 

St. Louis CITY SC vs. Toronto FC 

Saturday’s match will be the second meeting between St. Louis and Toronto. CITY SC faced Toronto during the 2023 season at BMO Field, winning 1-0 with a goal from Aziel Jackson. This will mark the first time the two sides meet at Energizer Park. CITY SC defender Lukas MacNaughton was a member of Toronto FC from 2022-23.

Toronto FC sits in 12th place in the Eastern Conference standings with 29 points and a 6-8-11 record. In the team’s last five matches, Toronto is 2-1-2, most recently falling 3-0 to Orlando City SC.
