St Louis CITY2 Kicks Off Five-Match Road Trip against Whitecaps FC 2

CITY2 recorded a gritty 2-1 comeback win over Chicago Fire II last Saturday night at Ralph Korte Stadium. CITY2 captain Josh Yaro and forward Josh Dolling found the back of the net in the second half to ensure that the three points stayed in St. Louis on the night. On the defensive end, Ian McGrane made three saves to record his fifth win in goal this season.

Whitecaps FC 2 enter Sunday’s match looking to bounce back from a 3-1 defeat away to second to last place Real Monarchs. Whitecaps 2 have struggled since the beginning of July, winning only one game from a possible five. Simon Becher, former Saint Louis University forward, leads the Whitecaps FC 2 with six goals on 32 shots in 16 matches started. Whitecaps 2 have featured six different goalkeepers this season with Isaac Boehmer starting seven games, tallying 1.29 goals against average with 23 saves. 

Vitor Dias continued his great run of form, notching his second assist of the season off a pinpoint free kick. Célio Pompeu, who provided the game-winning assist has raised his total to three this campaign. Pompeu also ranks third in the league for key passes with 38, six behind league leader Aziel Jackson from Minnesota United FC 2.
