St Louis CITY2 travels to face Portland Timbers2 at Providence Park for the 2026 MLS NEXT Pro Western Conference Quarterfinal on Friday, October 16. The match will kick off at 9:00 p.m. CT and will be streamed on mlsnextpro.com and OneFootball. Â
St. Louis finished the 2026 MLS NEXT Pro regular season seventh in the Western Conference with a 10-8-10 record, earning 44 points. Leading the way for CITY2’s offense was Palmer Ault, who scored eight goals, while midfielder Riley Lynch tallied a career-high nine assists. The team finished the season with eight shutouts. Sixteen different players on CITY2’s roster scored at least one goal this season with seven of them scoring three or more goals.Â
With a redesigned roster featuring new faces to start the regular season, seven players who did not come through the CITY SC academy made their professional debuts including Ault, Jemone Barclay, Cooper Forcellini, Zack Lillington, Nate Martinez, Jack Wagoner, and Andrew De Gannes. Ten CITY SC Academy players also made their professional debuts: Owen Jorgensen, Kane Kraus, Miroslav Levkovsky, Joe Andrews, Drew Dowling, Cruz Gonzalez, Cobe Hamler, Yu Ota, Samuel Goldstein, and Blake Wilson. Â
Friday’s match will be the third meeting between the teams in 2026 and the first time the clubs have faced each other in the playoffs. CITY2 is 5-3-1 all-time against Portland, having lost 2-1 at home in July before falling 6-5 in a penalty shootout at Providence Park in September. St. Louis has lost just once at Providence Park.Â
St Louis CITY2 is the only team to have appeared in every MLS NEXT Pro postseason since the league launched in 2022. CITY2 is 5-4-0 all-time in the MLSNP playoffs, with the team’s most successful run dating back to its first season in 2022. The squad reached the final before falling 4-1 to Columbus Crew 2.
