After taking nine out of a possible 15 points during their five-match road trip, St Louis CITY2 hosts archrival Sporting KC II on Sunday in the MLS Next Pro regular-season finale at Ralph Korte Stadium. Kickoff between CITY2 and SKC II is set for 6 p.m. CST in Edwardsville, Ill. The match can be seen live on mlsnextpro.com or can be tuned in on KMOX in English and Lider Media Sports in Spanish.

Saturday’s match is the finale of the regular season and a three-game regular season series between CITY2 and SKC II. CITY2 has bested their archrivals, earning back-to-back wins at Rock Chalk Park earlier this season by a 1-0 and 2-1 score line. The first matchup saw Fort Wayne, Indiana native Akil Watts tally the game’s lone goal in the 10th minute on April 16 and then CITY2 returned on June 17 with a come-from-behind win as Max Schneider recorded a second-half brace in a two-minute span.

CITY2 remain in the driver’s seat for the Frontier Division and a first-round home playoff game with a win, tie and a shootout win or a tie and shootout loss. CITY2 can also clinch with a loss AND any result besides a win between North Texas SC and Houston Dynamo 2. CITY2 can still clinch the Western Conference being just one point back of Tacoma Defiance. The only scenario for Tacoma to outright clinch the West is a win over Portland Timbers2. Any scenario in which both Tacoma and CITY2 finish the season in a tie, CITY2 will have the tiebreaker with total Wins.

CITY2 is just one of two teams in the league with 15 total wins and has captured points in eight of 11 home matches, owning a 7-3-1 mark. St. Louis has called home to two different locations, Herman Stadium (St. Louis University) and Ralph Korte Stadium. The first six home matches were played at Hermann Stadium where CITY2 tallied a 3-2-1 mark and an even scoreline of 11 goals for and 11 goals against, while owning a 4-1-0 record at Ralph Korte Stadium and outscoring opponents, 9-3, with three clean sheets.

Prior to last weekend’s loss to North Texas SC, CITY2 had never had back-to-back losses this season. In their previous four losses, St. Louis had responded with two-plus goal efforts. Overall, CITY2 has been blanked just twice in 23 matches this season.

CITY2 has scored first in 15 of their 23 matches this season and have tallied a 11-2-2 mark in those matches while compiling eight clean sheets and outscoring their opponent, 39-12. When CITY2 falls behind early in the match they are 3-5-0 and being outscored, 17-15.
