CITY2 extended its unbeaten streak to eight games, setting the record for the longest unbeaten streak in team history

St Louis CITY2 defeated Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2 1-0 on Saturday, September 9 at National Soccer Development Center. After a scoreless first half, midfielder Faysal Bettache scored the lone goal of the match in the 57th minute. With the 1-0 win, CITY2 is now unbeaten over its last eight contests (six wins, two draws).

CITY2 stifled Vancouver’s offense throughout the match, preventing the home team from recording a shot on goal. Defender Nolan McGuire led the team in duels won (12). In his first start since returning from injury, goalkeeper Christian Olivares recorded his team-leading third clean sheet of the season.

On the other side of the ball, Bettache scored for the second consecutive match after notching a hat-trick against Houston Dynamo 2 last weekend. He has now scored in four of the team's last five matches. Midfielder John Klein and Bettache kept the offense humming against Whitecaps 2, tying for the most key passes during the match (3). During its eight-match unbeaten streak, CITY2 has now outscored opponents 22 to 8.
