St Louis CITY2 (4-7-6, 23 points) returns to play against LA Galaxy II (2-9-4, 12 points) at Dignity Health Sports Park on Sunday, July 9. Kickoff is slated for 7:00 p.m. CT, and the match will be streamed on MLSNEXTPro.com.

When CITY2 and Galaxy II square off later this week, it will be the first-ever meeting between the teams. Against common opponents this season, CITY2 is 4-5-5 (21 points), while Galaxy II is 2-8-3 (11 points). On the road thus far, CITY2 boasts a 3-3-2 record (13 points) whereas Los Angeles sports a 1-3-2 home record (7 points).

Facing off against league-leading Colorado Rapids II last weekend, CITY2 put up a valiant effort despite trailing 1-0 at the final whistle. The match was the tenth time this season that CITY2 held an opponent scoreless in the first half, and CITY2 tallied more shots (17), corners (8) and crosses (12) than Rapids II. However, the away side scored in the 82nd minute to steal three points.

After being shut out last weekend, CITY2 will look to harness its recent offensive momentum in road games, as the team has scored two or more goals in five consecutive away matches. Midfielder John Klein’s five (5) goals away from home this season lead the team. Seven (7) different players have recorded at least one assist across CITY2’s road games thus far, with defender Sergio Rivas and midfielder Wan Kuzain tied for the team high with two (2) assists each in such contests.

CITY2 goalkeepers have also played an integral role for the team in away matches this season, stopping a combined 26 shots. Two (2) of the team’s three (3) clean sheets were recorded on the road.

Galaxy II enters the match after coming from behind on the road to secure a point against San Jose Earthquakes II in their last match. If Los Angeles is able to get a result against CITY2, it would be the team’s first time earning points in consecutive weeks since April. Forward Aaron Bibout leads Galaxy II with nine (9) goals in the books so far.
