Match Preview | St. Louis CITY2 Returns Home for a Rematch with Houston Dynamo 2

St. Louis CITY2 (8-2-2, 27 points) comes home to CITYPARK for a Western Conference match up with Houston Dynamo 2 (2-5-4, 11 points). The match will kick off at 6:00 p.m. CT on Sunday, June 16th and will be streamed on MLS Season Pass on the Apple TV app.

CITY2 and Dynamo 2 will be facing off against each other for the second time this season. In their previous meeting, Houston won 2-0 on May 22nd at Sabercats Stadium. Since then, CITY2 has been on a three-game unbeaten streak picking up wins against The Town FC, Colorado Rapids 2, and Tacoma Defiance.

After having the weekend off, CITY2 looks to pick up where they left off on Thursday with a 1-0 shutout against Defiance. The match in Tacoma was a full team effort that saw John Klein extend his scoring streak to four goals and Christian Olivares pick up his third clean sheet of the season. Ryan Becher notched his first assist of the season in the match. Caden Glover made his first appearance for the team since March 31st against SKC II.

Houston drew 2-2 at Sporting Kansas City II in their match on Friday with SKC II winning on penalty kicks. The Dynamo are led by forward Exon Arzu who has three goals on the season. Midfielder, Ousmane Sylla leads the team in assists with four. Sylla scored his first professional brace during the match on Friday.

CITY2 sits in second place in the MLS NEXT Pro Western Conference standings. The team leads the league with the most away wins this season (5) and has won seven of their last eight matches. St. Louis has conceded the second fewest goals in the league (11). With a win on Sunday, CITY2 could slide into first place in the league and first in the Western Conference standings.
