St Louis CITY2 (5-8-7, 27 points) battles Real Monarchs (6-11-2, 21 points) at CITYPARK on Sunday, August 6, to round out the team’s two-match homestand. The match kicks off at 6:00 p.m. CT and will be streamed on MLS Season Pass on the Apple TV app.

CITY2 and Real Monarchs will be facing off for the second and final time during the regular season. When the two sides met in Utah in June, CITY2 pounced on their opponents early, registering a goal in the 1st minute and never looking back. Four different players wound up on the scoresheet for CITY2 in a 4-1 rout.

Since getting off to a slow start in home matches to begin the season, CITY2 has turned CITYPARK into a tough venue for opposing teams to play in. Over the team’s last seven home games, five have resulted in CITY2 picking up points (two wins, three draws), with the team outscoring their competition ten (10) to nine (9) over those seven home contests. Meanwhile, Real Monarchs are 5-4-0 (15 points) on the road this season, having won their last two road games.

In their last match, CITY2 delivered with an offensive onslaught against LAFC2. Forward Caden Glover recorded the first professional brace of his career, midfielder John Klein picked up his team-leading seventh goal of the season and defender Joakim Nilsson headed in a cross in his first appearance for either St. Louis CITY SC or CITY2.

Midfielder Max Schneider assisted on the team’s first two goals, setting a single-game high for assists (2) among CITY2 players this season. Five players now have two or more assists this season, and CITY2’s thirteen (13) total players with at least one assist is tied for the fifth-highest mark in MLS NEXT Pro.

Real Monarchs comes into the match on a two-game losing streak, having fallen 5-3 against Houston Dynamo 2 in their last contest. In their five matches since playing CITY2 on June 18, the team has gone 2-2-1 (7 points) but has been outscored nine (9) to eleven (11) in that span. Forward Ilijah Paul leads the team with four (4) goals and is tied for the team lead in assists (1).
