St. Louis CITY SC continues their Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup campaign against Chicago Fire FC in the Round of 32 this Tuesday at SeatGeek Stadium in Bridgeview, Illinois. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. CST and will be streamed in the CITY App, on the B/R App or the B/R Football YouTube page and broadcasted by our radio partners on KYKY Y98.1 FM (English) and KXOK 102.9 FM (Spanish).

CITY SC earned a dominant 5-1 win over Union Omaha in their first-ever Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup match at CITYPARK. CITY SC rallied behind goals from Aziel Jackson (2), Akil Watts, Eduard Löwen and an own goal from Omaha’s Joe Gallardo. Célio Pompeu recorded three assists in the match and was involved in some way in all of CITY SC’s five goals. Since then, Pompeu notched his first goal in MLS play against Portland Timbers and made his first MLS start against FC Dallas last Saturday.

St. Louis CITY SC has shown impressive form on the road so far this season. St. Louis owns the joint-best away record (3-1-1) in the league, scoring 10 goals in the process. CITY SC has scored the opening goal in three of their five road matches (Austin FC, Real Salt Lake and Colorado Rapids) and recorded come-from-behind victories in their first two road games against Austin FC (2-3) and Portland Timbers (1-2). Their last away match against FC Dallas was postponed after 50 minutes of play due to inclement weather conditions.

Chicago currently sits in 14th place in the MLS Eastern Conference standings, following a 3-0 defeat away to Nashville SC in Matchday 11. Despite their results, Chicago is unbeaten in their last seven home matches in all competitions. Chicago has scored multiple goals in four of those matches (three against FC Cincinnati, two against Minnesota United, two against Philadelphia Union and three against Chicago House).

Chicago Fire recorded a 3-0 win over Chicago House behind goals from Kacper Przybyłko and Kendall Burks (2) in the last round of the U.S. Open Cup. The Fire have won four U.S. Open Cup trophies in Club history, winning the 1998, 2000, 2003 and 2006 editions of the tournament. The connection between St. Louis and the U.S. Open Cup began more than a century ago and is bound by 10 championship titles. Ben Millers became the first St. Louis-based team to win the tournament in 1920.

The Round-of-32 encounter will mark the first time St. Louis CITY SC and Chicago Fire FC face each other in any competition and will be followed four days later by their first MLS match in regular season play.
