The 2023 Generation adidas CupĀ kicked off on Saturday, April 1 at the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida with 49 clubs from 12 countries participating in the weeklong tournament.Ā St. Louis CITY SCās U-15 and U-17 teams competed in Group 3 and Group 8, respectively, butĀ both teams failed to qualify for the knockout stages of the tournament.
U-17s Run End inĀ GA Cup Group StageĀ
The U-17s kicked off the GA Cup with a 1-1 draw in regular time against Rema Stars F.C, scoring their first goal of the tournament courtesy of midfielder Aaron Heard. The matchĀ went all the way to penalty shootout, with Rema Stars edging CITY SC 5-4 to earn the extra point. In their second match, the U-17 squad fell 2-1 to Portland Timbers, with forward Caden Glover scoring CITY SC's lone goal in the match. The U-17s finished the tournament with a 1-0 loss to Strikers FC.
U-15s Finishes Third in Group 3Ā
The U-15s started their tournament with a 2-0 win over Charlotte FC's U-15s, with a brace from forward Stone Marion proving the difference on the day. The second match against Seattle Sounders U-15s ended in a 0-0 draw, but CITY SCās U-15s earned the extra point after beating Seattle 6-5 in penalty shootout. In their final group stage match, the U-15s lost 2-0 to Arsenal FC U-15s, which resulted in them barely missing out on a knockout berth.

St. Louis CITY SCās UPSL team will be back in action next weekend away at Midwest Hooligans on Saturday, April 8. The U-16s will play away to Bavarian United SC on April 15. Following their participation in the tournament, the U-15 and U-17 squads will travel to Texas to face FC Dallas on April 29 and Austin FC on April 30.
