Continuing their blistering form to start the season, St. Louis CITY SC Academy teams each added to the win column over the weekend, posting a combined record of 5-1-1. The U-15s, U-16s and U-17s all took the home pitch twice, while the UPSL team hit the road for a single match in the teams’ latest round of action.

U-15s rebound from close defeat with resounding win
Opening their weekend by hosting their Minnesota United FC Academy counterparts on Saturday, the U-15s couldn’t quite pull out the victory. Midfielder Kaden Donigan finished off a feed from Matteo Hayes to get the team on the board, but Minnesota notched two goals of their own to secure the 2-1 win.

On Sunday, the U-15s battled back in a big way. Nine different players registered a goal contribution in a top-class 5-0 victory over Shattuck St. Mary’s. Alex Jundt, defender Aiden Hunt, defender Steven Foristal Jr., midfielder Nolan Gomez and midfielder Kyle Skaggs all found the back of the net. Forward Jovanni Giffon, Cruz Gonzalez, midfielder Elias Whyte and Yuichiro Ota all picked up assists in the contest.

U-16s extend unbeaten run to nine straight games
Unbeaten over their first seven matches, the U-16s pushed their unbeaten streak to nine consecutive matches with two first-rate performances over the weekend. Hosting Lou Fusz Athletic on Saturday, the boys pounced on their opponents and never looked back. Forward Chidube Nwankwo hammered in two goals and forward Brody Mayer, midfielder Drew Rensing and midfielder Sam Goldstein all scored as well in the 5-1 win.

Against Shattuck St. Mary’s the following day, the U-16s picked up where they left off. Nwankwo found the back of the net two more times, giving him an Academy-high eleven (11) total goals this season, while forward Stone Marion and midfielder Beckham Williams also got on the scoresheet to lock up the flawless 4-0 victory.

U-17s keep momentum going with two strong outings
Riding an impressive four-match unbeaten run of their own coming into the weekend, the U-17 team remained in form. With the squad facing off against the Minnesota United FC Academy U-17s on Saturday, midfielder John Eckrich, forward Ryan Dugan and Trip Clang all netted goals in the 3-1 win.

The following day, the U-17s squared off against Shattuck St. Mary’s. The teams battled in what was a tightly contested affair, with midfielder Evan Carlock accounting for the boys’ lone goal. St. Mary’s, though, recorded a goal of their own, and the match ended in a 1-1 draw.

UPSL team piles on goals in emphatic win
Playing away against Pre-College DA II on Saturday, the UPSL side could not be deterred from finding the back of the net. Forwards Adam Boykin and Tyler Sargent each recorded a brace, with forward Edin Clark tacking on another goal en route to the team’s 5-1 win.

What’s Next?
All four teams are back in action next weekend. The U-15s and U-17s both travel north for away matches against Chicago Fire FC on October 28, with the UPSL team also playing away against Pre-College DA on that day. Meanwhile, the U-16s will head east for a clash against Indy Eleven on Sunday, October 29.
