Following a dominant start to the 2023-24 MLS NEXT season last weekend, St. Louis CITY SC Academy teams posted mixed results in their latest round of action. The teams combined for a 2-2-0 record across a series of close matches.

U-15s fall short against tough competition
After seeing five different players get on the scoresheet to kick off the season, the U-15s found it difficult to get on the board against visiting side Chicago Fire FC Academy U-15s. Despite a valiant effort, the U-15s came up short against Chicago, dropping the match 2-0.

U-16s pick up three points in a tight affair
The U-16 squad edged out SC Wave 2-1 to earn three points and remain undefeated on the season. Defender Connor Niles contributed one goal on the day, and forward Jojo Adamitis finished off a pass from forward Chidube Nwankwo for the team’s other goal.

U-17s drop match 2-1 to Chicago Fire Academy
Coming off a six-goal masterclass in their first match of the season, the U-17s couldn’t quite get the offense going this time around against Chicago Fire FC Academy U-17s. Midfielder Carson Locker converted from the penalty spot, but it wasn’t enough in a match the team lost 2-1.

UPSL team routs Jackson Tennessee Boom
The UPSL team continued their red-hot start to the season. After an 8-3 victory in their first match of the season, the team slotted home seven goals in a dominant performance against hosts Jackson Tennessee Boom this weekend. Seven different players – Anthony Faupel, Jackson Delkus, Eddie Stewart, Dida Armstrong, Edin Clark, Kai Pope and Nate Harmon – all registered goals in the 7-1 victory.

What’s Next?
Only the U-16 and UPSL squads are back in action next weekend, with the U-15 and U-17 teams resuming play on September 23. After beating Michigan Wolves to open the season, the U-16s face off with them once again in a home match on September 17. Meanwhile, the UPSL team hosts TN Tempo FC Academy on September 17 in their third match of the season.
