Pick Up CITY kicks off Thursday, May 29 at DeSoto Park mini-pitch to wrap up Mental Health Awareness Month
St. Louis CITY SC is taking its “Tackle the Struggle” mental health platform into the community with Pick Up CITY, a series of pick-up soccer social events setting out to combat loneliness and isolation by bringing St. Louisans together and connecting over the beautiful game. Pick Up CITY will kick off on Thursday, May 29 at the DeSoto Park mini-pitch and will continue throughout the summer with smaller pick-up soccer meetups around the region.
“Last year, we established our Tackle the Struggle platform to connect people around our region to mental health resources. Pick Up CITY is an extension of that, creating opportunities for St. Louisans to play and connect over soccer,” said Matt Sebek, Chief Experience Officer, St. Louis CITY SC. “Since 2020, we spend four times more time at home than anywhere else – we are craving connection and community now more than ever. Energizer Park has already become a place of togetherness, and so are our mini-pitches. We are looking forward to hosting Pick Up CITY for individuals to meet new friends and fellow fans, play soccer and make lasting connections through CITY.”
May 29th’s marquee Pick Up CITY event, which wraps up Mental Health Awareness Month, will feature informal pick-up soccer as well as a DJ and live music, food trucks Farmtruk and Session Taco, giveaways, and much more. Additional Pick Up CITY meetups will be announced soon.
