St. Louis CITY SC has added midfielder Tyson Pearce, defender Jaziel Orozco, and winger Mykhi Joyner to the first-team roster on short-term loan agreements, ahead of tonight’s matchup against Real Salt Lake at 8:30 p.m. CT at America First Field.
This marks Joyner’s final short-term call-up, while Orozco is making his second loan appearance with the first team. Pearce will be making his first appearance on the roster this season.
Joyner has made four MLS regular season appearances this year and earned his first start for the first team in a U.S. Open Cup match against Union Omaha. For CITY2, he’s been prolific, scoring nine goals in 10 appearances. He recently became just the fifth player in MLS NEXT Pro history to score four goals in a single match.
Pearce has been with CITY2 for the past three seasons and has accumulated 42 appearances, playing primarily as a right back or central midfielder. The St. Charles, Missouri native is coming off a strong 2024 MLS NEXT Pro season in which he made 21 starts and logged 1,954 minutes, the most of any player on CITY2’s squad.
Orozco has started all 15 matches for CITY2 this season, anchoring a defense that has helped the team earn 32 points, currently the best record in the Western Conference. The former Real Salt Lake defender made his MLS debut in March 2022 at just 18 years old and returns to Salt Lake for the first time as a visiting player.
Per MLS roster rules, short-term agreements allow clubs to temporarily add players from their MLS NEXT Pro affiliates for league matches, the U.S. Open Cup, Concacaf Champions Cup, Canadian Championship, and exhibitions.
