St. Louis CITY SC has acquired left back Devin Padelford on loan from Minnesota United FC through December 31, 2025. As part of the deal, Minnesota United will receive St. Louis CITY SC’s natural third-round pick in the 2026 MLS SuperDraft.
Padelford has quickly risen through the MLS ranks since signing as Minnesota’s first Homegrown Player out of the club’s Academy in 2022. His professional journey began that same year with Minnesota’s MLS NEXT Pro side, MNUFC2, where he made 22 starts and contributed one assist.
“Devin is a young player who has already shown maturity and potential at the MLS level,” said Lutz Pfannestiel. “His ability to get forward from the left side, combined with his defensive instincts, will provide us with another option as we push through the end of the season.”
During the 2024 season, Padelford established himself as a regular in Minnesota’s lineup, making 24 appearances (19 starts) and recording his first MLS assist on April 1 against Sporting Kansas City. Since making his first-team debut in 2023, he has logged 41 total matches for MNUFC across all competitions, marking the most appearances by a homegrown player in club history to date. He also scored his first professional goal on July 8, 2023, against Austin FC.
