St. Louis CITY SC Adds Brendan McSorley and Jaziel Orozco on Short-Term Loans from CITY2

St. Louis CITY SC has added forward Brendan McSorley and defender Jaziel Orozco to the first-team roster on short-term loan agreements from St. Louis CITY2, ahead of tonight’s Sunday Night Soccer matchup against the Portland Timbers at 6:00 p.m. CT at Providence Park.

This marks Orozco’s first short-term loan to the first team, while McSorley will make his second appearance on the roster this season.

McSorley made his MLS debut on June 19, 2024, against the Colorado Rapids. The Randolph, New Jersey native has impressed in MLS NEXT Pro this season, tallying four goals and two assists in 11 matches. Over 37 appearances with CITY2, he has notched 13 goals and three assists.

Orozco has started all 12 matches for CITY2 this season, anchoring a defense that has helped the team earn 23 points, tied for first in the Western Conference. The former Real Salt Lake defender made his MLS debut in March 2022 at just 18 years old.

Per MLS roster rules, short-term agreements allow clubs to temporarily add players from their MLS NEXT Pro affiliates for league matches, the U.S. Open Cup, Concacaf Champions Cup, Canadian Championship, and exhibitions. Players may be named to up to four MLS matchday rosters and can appear in up to two MLS regular season games on short-term loans.
