St. Louis CITY SC academy midfielder Lorenzo Cornelius and defender Owen Jorgensen were named to the 2025 MLS NEXT All-Star Game presented by Allstate. This will mark the first time CITY SC has had two players selected for the MLS NEXT All-Star Game.
Cornelius and Jorgensen, alongside 42 other top players from MLS NEXT academies, will compete in an East versus West conference matchup at Parmer Field, home of Austin FC II in Austin, Texas, on Monday, July 21 at 7:30 p.m. CT. The MLS NEXT All-Star Game is an opportunity for young players to display their talents on a national level. The match will be streamed live on MLS’ YouTube channel.
Fans wanting to watch in person, there is free admission and can register for tickets here. Cornelius and Jorgensen will be fully immersed in MLS All-Star Week festivities, including team training, the All-Star Skill Challenge presented by AT&T on July 22, and the MLS All-Star Game on July 23.
17-year-old, Cornelius, started his professional career earlier this year, joining St Louis CITY2’s roster for the 2025 season. Cornelius has made six appearances in a total of 135 minutes and has contributed to CITY2’s 10-4-1 record, which has them atop MLS NEXT Pro’s Western Conference standings. Earlier this year, Cornelius joined the U.S. U-17 Men’s Youth National Team for the CONCACAF U-17 Qualifiers helping them clinch a berth to the 2025 U-17 World Cup. Through his youth national team career, the young midfielder has accumulated two national team call-ups and scored two goals.
Jorgensen, a member of CITY SC’s U-15 squad, helped the squad go undefeated in their spring season with an outstanding 8-0-1 record, finishing with 25 points in first place in the Mid-America (West Division) group. The defender scored two goals with CITY SC this season. Jorgensen’s standout defensive performances helped CITY SC’s U-15 team make a run to the semifinals of the 2025 MLS NEXT Cup. Additionally, Jorgensen has received five call-ups to the U.S. U-15 Men’s Youth National Team, making two starts for the U.S., scoring one goal recently in a 4-2 win against Argentina’s U-15 team in May.
Cornelius and Jorgensen are the fourth and fifth CITY SC players to be named to the MLS NEXT Pro All-Star game. Joining them are Fritz Volmar who made the inaugural roster in 2022, Caden Glover who made the roster in 2023, and Tyson Pearce who was selected last year.
