Kijima signs with St. Louis CITY SC and McSorley will join St Louis CITY2

St. Louis CITY signed 2024 MLS SuperDraft selections Hosei Kijima and Brendan McSorley to their first professional contracts. Kijima signed a one-year contract with St. Louis CITY SC, with club options for 2025, 2026 and 2027. McSorley signed a two-year MLS NEXT Pro contract through 2025, with a club option for 2026.

“We’re excited for both Hosei and Brendan to begin their professional careers with us after a successful preseason,” said Sporting Director Lutz Pfannenstiel. “Both players have adapted well to the team culture and principles, and we look forward to helping them reach their full potential.”

In the 2024 MLS SuperDraft, St. Louis CITY SC traded up to select Wake Forest’s Hosei Kijima with the 17th overall pick and then picked Providence College’s Brendan McSorley with the 79th overall pick. Both players traveled with the team for the preseason camps in Florida and California.

Kijima started all 18 of his appearances, serving as a team captain as Wake Forest earned its fifth ACC Atlantic Division title in nine seasons. He was named United Soccer Coaches All-South Region First-Team as he recorded eight points on three goals and two assists. In four years as a Demon Deacon, the Yokohama, Japan, native tallied 63 games played with nine goals and 10 assists.

McSorley played four seasons at Providence College, accruing 23 goals and five assists in 62 matches played. The Randolph, New Jersey, native had his most promising collegiate season as a senior, starting all 17 matches and amassing 11 goals and one assist.

Transaction: Kijima has signed a one-year contract with St. Louis CITY SC, with club options for 2025, 2026 and 2027. McSorley signed a two-year MLS NEXT Pro contract through 2025, with a club option for 2026.
