St Louis CITY2 earned a strong 6-3 win over Portland Timbers2 on Friday night at Energizer Park. Mykhi Joyner slotted home his first of four goals, scoring from the penalty spot in the eighth minute. 10 minutes later Portland scored to tie the match at 1-1 and added another to enter halftime up 2-1.
In the second half, Joyner netted another penalty kick goal, tying the match at 2-2. He added his third goal of the night one minute later with a curling shot from the sideline. Joyner scored a header to make it 4-2 off a set piece from Eduard Löwen. Brendan McSorley got on the scoresheet two minutes later off an assist from Seth Antwi. Then, McSorley added his second goal of the night to make it 6-2. Timbers2 scored their third goal in stoppage time, but it was not enough as CITY2 picked up their sixth win of the season. St Louis will close out their two-match homestand at Energizer Park on Wednesday, June 4 as they take on North Texas SC at 7:00 p.m. CT.
