St Louis CITY2 added their sixth straight win with a 1-0 shutout victory over Houston Dynamo 2 on Saturday night at Energizer Park. CITY2 dominated the first half, controlling 67% of possession compared to Dynamo Dos’ 33%. Neither team found the back of the net by halftime. St Louis maintained their strong play in the second half, outshooting Houston, six shots to none. Once again, CITY2 found a late breakthrough, as Mykhi Joyner delivered a pass to Emil Jääskeläinen, who slotted home the game-winner to give CITY2 a 1-0 lead in the 86th minute. The win marks CITY2’s sixth straight victory and moves them into sole possession of first place in MLS NEXT Pro’s Western Conference standings with 32 points. CITY2 will be back on the road next Sunday, July 6, at 8:30 p.m. CT to face Real Monarchs at Zions Bank Stadium.
