St Louis CITY2 heads out to Northern California as they face The Town FC on Sunday, May 11 at 7:00 p.m. CT from Saint Mary’s Stadium. The match will be streamed on MLS Season Pass on the Apple TV app.
CITY2 picked up their fourth win of the season and snapped a three-game losing streak earning a 3-1 victory over Houston Dynamo 2 last Sunday. Emil Jääskeläinen got CITY2 on the board early in the 14th minute with his first professional goal. In the second half, Houston scored their first and only goal of the match, but Brendan McSorley scored his second goal of the season to make it 2-1. Miguel Perez added another goal to secure the 3-1 win for CITY2. St Louis CITY2 also set a new MLS NEXT Pro attendance record of 12,263 on Sunday night.
Jääskeläinen had three goal contributions on the night (one goal, two assists), which earned him MLS NEXT Pro Player of Matchweek 8 honors. Additionally, McSorley had two goal contributions (one goal, one assist). McSorley and Perez joined Mykhi Joyner with a team leading two goals each.
Sunday’s match will be the first of two meetings against The Town FC. The teams split the season series last year with one win a piece, but CITY2 got the upper hand earning a 4-2 win during the MLS NEXT Pro Western Conference semi-final at Energizer Park. The match saw Brendan McSorley and Gabriel Mikina score as well as Mykhi Joyner who notched the game-winner in overtime and added a second goal in stoppage time. St Louis is 2-1-1 all-time against TTFC.
The Town FC enters Sunday’s contest with a 2-3-1 record sitting in eleventh place in the MLS NEXT Pro Western Conference standings. TTFC picked up their first win of the season on April 27, scoring five goals against LAFC2. The Town FC scored five goals once again last weekend against Timbers2 and earned their first shutout of the season. TTFC is undefeated at home with a 2-0-0 record. There are eleven different goal scorers who have contributed to the team’s offense through 2025.
