St Louis CITY2 looks to extend their MLS NEXT Pro record-setting eight match win streak as they face Ventura County FC on Wednesday, July 16 at 7:00 p.m. CT at Energizer Park. The match will be streamed on MLS Season Pass on Apple TV.

In their last match, CITY2 defeated Austin FC II 4-2 on Friday night at Parmer Field. Miguel Perez found the back of the net early in the first half and just five minutes later, Mykhi Joyner converted a penalty to make it 2-0. Joyner scored his second goal in the 24th minute, and Wan Kuzain added a fourth goal for St Louis later in the half. CITY2 earned all three points and maintained their spot at the top of the MLS NEXT Pro standings with 38 points and 12 wins.

Perez tallied his fourth goal of the season while Kuzain scored his first. Joyner earned his tenth and eleventh goals of the season, moving him into first place in the MLS NEXT Pro Golden Boot race. Joyner’s sixth career brace moved him into sole possession of third place on the MLS NEXT Pro all-time scoring list with 28 goals. Additionally, Brendan McSorley notched his team-leading fifth assist while Emil JƤƤskelƤinen earned his fourth assist of the season.

Friday’s win extended CITY2’s unbeaten streak on the road to four, with their last away loss coming on May 11. In 2025, CITY2 dropped just one match at Energizer Park. Through this point of the season, CITY2 has already surpassed their point total from last year, putting them on pace for their best finish in MLS NEXT Pro.

In their previous meeting this year, CITY2 fell 3-1 to Ventura County on the road. Ryan Becher scored the lone goal for St Louis. VCFC enters Wednesday’s clash on a two-match losing streak, falling in penalty kicks to The Town FC and suffering a 2-1 loss to Vancouver Whitecaps FC on July 3. The visitors from California sit in second place in the Western Conference standings with 30 points.
