St Louis CITY2 looks to extend their three-match win streak as they take on Colorado Rapids 2 on Sunday, June 15 at 7:00 p.m. CT at the University of Denver Soccer Stadium. The match will be streamed on mlsnextpro.com.
CITY2 won their third straight game on Wednesday, June 4, scoring two goals past North Texas SC. Emil Jääskeläinen got CITY2 on the board in the fifteenth minute scoring a header off a cross from Wan Kuzain. Five minutes before halftime, Matteo Kidd notched his second goal of the season from a combination play between Jay Reid and Brendan McSorley. Kuzain and Reid earned their first assists of the season while McSorley’s assist was his third in 2025.
The win moved St Louis into second place in MLS NEXT Pro Western Conference standings with 23 points. CITY2 were rewarded for their strong performance in Matchweek 13 as they were named Team of the Matchweek by MLS NEXT Pro. This was the third time CITY2 were named Team of the Matchweek, which is the most out of any team in MLS NEXT Pro through the 2025 season.
CITY2 has five different players who have tallied more than two goals in 2025, which include Mykhi Joyner, Brendan McSorley, Miguel Perez, Emil Jääskeläinen, and Matteo Kidd.
St Louis faced Colorado Rapids 2 back on April 6 at Energizer Park, falling 1-0 in their only loss so far this season at home. Kimani Stewart-Baynes scored the lone goal for Rapids 2 during the match. Since April, Colorado has won seven of their last 12 matches and enter Sunday’s match on a two-game win streak to start the month of June. Rapids 2 most recently defeated Austin FC II, 1-0 on June 8, winning off an own goal from ATX II. At home, Colorado is 3-2-0 and currently holds third place in the MLS NEXT Pro Western Conference standings.
