Following their historic homecoming win against Charlotte FC, St. Louis CITY SC are back on the road to face Portland Timbers in a Western Conference matchup at Providence Park. Kickoff is scheduled for 9:30 p.m. CST on Saturday, March 11. The match will be televised on MLS Season Pass on Apple TV and broadcasted by our radio partners on KYKY Y98.1 FM (English) and KXOK 102.9 FM (Spanish).

St. Louis CITY SC continues to make MLS history as an expansion team with their performances on the field. With their 3-1 win against Charlotte FC, CITY SC became the first team in MLS history to score at least three goals in each of its first two games in club history. CITY SC also became the fourth expansion team in MLS history to win its first two matches, with the other teams achieving such feat being Chicago Fire in 1998, Seattle Sounders in 2009 and most recently LAFC in 2018. Should St. Louis CITY SC make it three for three wins on Saturday, they would join Seattle Sounders as the only other expansion club to win each of their first three MLS games.

Last time out, St. Louis CITY SC came from behind to defeat Charlotte FC 3-1 in a packed house at CITYPARK. After going behind in the 24th minute, CITY SC rallied back behind goals from Bill Tuiloma (OG), Eduard Löwen and João Klauss. Löwen earned team of the matchday honors for the second straight week after putting in a man of the match performance against Charlotte.

With his goal last weekend, Klauss has now scored in both of St. Louis CITY SC’s MLS matches, the third player to score in an expansion team’s first two matches, with the last two being Diego Rossi (LAFC, 2018) and Fredy Montero (Seattle, 2009). No team in league history has ever had a player score in each of its first three matches.

CITY SC’s opponent Portland Timers recorded a 1-0 win in their season opener against Sporting KC but fell 3-2 against LAFC last weekend. The Timbers have only lost once in seven home matches against expansion teams.

CITY SC will look to continue their impressive form in front of goal and record a win in one of the toughest environments in the MLS.
