CITY SC delivered a statement win Saturday night at Energizer Park, defeating then Western Conference-leading Houston Dynamo 2-1. The victory extended St. Louis’ unbeaten run to 12 matches across all competitions and set a league record with an 11-match unbeaten streak in regular season play this campaign, surpassing LAFC’s previous mark of 10. The result also handed Houston its first loss in five matches and snapped the Dynamo’s five-match clean-sheet streak.
Simon Becher opened the scoring in the 23rd minute, netting his third goal in three matches off an assist from Alex Mățan, who picked up his first for St. Louis. Houston struck back in the 75th minute to level the score, but Dante Polvara restored CITY SC’s lead 10 minutes later, firing home the game-winner for his first career MLS goal and his first in CITY SC colors, while earning a spot on the MLS Team of the Matchday for the second week in a row.

Head Coach Yoann Damet earned Coach of the Matchday honors for Matchday 22 following St. Louis’ win over Houston. As the league’s youngest coach, Damet has guided CITY SC to a club-record 12-match unbeaten streak, establishing St. Louis as one of the hottest teams across the league. After collecting just six points through his first 10 MLS matches with St. Louis, Damet has led a turnaround for the club, surging CITY SC up the Western Conference table, earning 27 points over its last 11 league matches which is tied for fourth place with 33 points.
St. Louis CITY SC vs. FC Dallas
Both teams enter the match tied for fourth place with 33 points and the exact same record of 9-6-6. St. Louis took home a point in its most recent meeting with FC Dallas, battling to a 1-1 draw in April at Toyota Stadium. Defender Timo Baumgartl provided the equalizer, scoring his first career MLS goal and first CITY SC goal, to secure the point for St. Louis. The series has been defined by home field advantage, with neither side having lost to the other in its own stadium. CITY SC is 2-2-0 against Dallas at home across all competitions, allowing just three goals in four meetings in St. Louis.
Scouting FC Dallas
FC Dallas is coming off a 5-0 road loss to Vancouver Whitecaps FC, who reclaimed first place in the Western Conference with the win. The defeat was just Dallas’ second since MLS play resumed following the World Cup break. Dallas’ Leagues Cup campaign also ended Wednesday, August 12 in the third round with a loss to Mexican side Toluca. This will mark the ninth straight road game for FC Dallas, earning 14 out of 24 points in that stretch. Croatian forward Petar Musa leads Dallas with 16 goals, which also ranks first in the MLS. Midfielder Joaquín Valiente leads the team in assists with eight.
