St. Louis' rich U.S. Open Cup legacy spans more than 100 years, highlighted by 10 championships. The city's first title came in 1920 when Ben Millers defeated Fore River Rovers. Other local champions include St. Louis Scullins Steel (1922), St. Louis Stix, Baer & Fuller F.C. (1933, 1943), Central Breweries (1935), Simpkins-Ford (1948, 1950), Kutis SC (1957, 1986), and Busch Seniors (1988).

St. Louis CITY SC vs Union Omaha
CITY SC began its Open Cup journey with a commanding 5-1 victory over Union Omaha in 2023. Aziel Jackson scored twice, joined on the scoresheet by Akil Watts, Eduard Löwen, and an own goal. Célio Pompeu contributed three assists in a standout performance.

Scouting the Union Omaha
Union Omaha began their 2025 Open Cup run with a 2-1 win over Flatirons Rush, with goals from Aaron Gomez and Joe Gallardo. In the second round, they topped Des Moines Menace 2-1 and followed that with a 1-0 upset over USL Championship side San Antonio FC, courtesy of a goal from defender Dion Acoff.

Omaha enters Wednesday’s match in 12th place in USL League One with a 1-2-1 record. They most recently drew 0-0 with Forward Madison FC. The team’s three goals this season have come from Acoff, Max Schneider (a former CITY2 player), and Sergio Ors. Defender Charlie Ostrem leads the team with two assists, while Ors has one.
