Last Time Out

CITY SC delivered one of its most impressive performances of the season Sunday night, defeating the LA Galaxy 6-2 at Energizer Park to extend its unbeaten streak across all competitions to 20 matches. The run ties the MLS record, previously set by the New York Red Bulls in 2016. Carlo Holse made an immediate impact scoring a hat trick in the opening 21 minutes to give CITY an early advantage. Rafael Navarro added two goals, while defender Lukas MacNaughton also found the back of the net. Navarro finished the night with two goals and two assists, while Chris Durkin and Dante Polvara also finished with a pair of assists.

Team of the Matchday

Following Sunday's 6-2 victory over the LA Galaxy, CITY SC had four representatives in MLS's Team of the Matchday squad. Holse, Navarro and Durkin were recognized among the players, while head coach Yoann Damet was named Coach of the Matchday.

Holse capped off his historic performance by being named MLS Player of the Matchday presented by Michelob ULTRA for Matchday 29 of the 2026 season. The honor followed his first career MLS hat trick and helped highlight St. Louis’ standout team performance.

Hat Trick Hero Holse

Holse made history against the LA Galaxy, scoring three goals in the opening 21 minutes to record his first career MLS hat trick. The feat marked the second-fastest hat trick from the start of a match in MLS history, trailing only Nashville SC's Hany Mukhtar, who scored three times in 16 minutes on July 17, 2021.

The Danish midfielder became the second player in CITY SC history to record a regular-season hat trick, accomplishing the feat in just his 10th regular-season appearance for the club. Since joining CITY as a Designated Player during the summer, Holse has totaled six goals and two assists in 477 regular-season minutes, including two game-winning goal contributions.

St. Louis CITY SC vs. Vancouver Whitecaps

Earlier this season, CITY SC earned its first-ever victory at BC Place on September 5, defeating the Whitecaps 3-1 behind goals from Simon Becher, Tomas Totland and Conrad Wallem. The clubs also met twice during the 2025 season, playing a scoreless draw at Energizer Park before Vancouver claimed a 3-2 victory at home. CITY's first victory in the series came in May 2023, when St. Louis earned a 3-0 win featuring goals from Eduard Löwen and Miguel Perez, along with an own goal by Tristan Blackmon.

Scouting Vancouver Whitecaps

Vancouver Whitecaps FC enters Wednesday's match atop the Western Conference with a 15-7-6 record and 51 points. The Whitecaps are winless in their last three matches, most recently playing to a 1-1 draw against LAFC on Sunday after suffering a 3-1 defeat to the Chicago Fire earlier in the week. Goalkeeper Yohei Takaoka has earned 11 clean sheets while Brian White leads their team with 17 goals. Following their latest draw, Vancouver has officially secured their place in the Audi 2026 MLS Cup Playoffs.
