St. Louis CITY SC will travel to Texas to face Austin FC on Saturday, March 9 at Q2 Stadium, in the team’s first road MLS match of the season. The match kicks off at 7:30 p.m. CST. Fans can watch the match on MLS Season Pass on the Apple TV app and follow via our radio partners on KYKY Y98.1 FM (English) and KXOK 102.9 FM (Spanish).

St. Louis recorded their first MLS win of the season after defeating New York City FC 2-0 at CITYPARK on March 2. Célio Pompeu finished off a solo move in the 35th minute to give CITY SC the lead. Pompeu turned provider in the 72nd minute, slipping in a pass to Sam Adeniran who powered a near-post shot past the goalkeeper to seal the victory.

Nikolas Dyhr made his first appearance for St. Louis CITY SC and Roman Bürki recorded his first clean sheet of the season.

Following their impressive performance against New York City, Pompeu (best XI) and Joakim Nilsson (bench) were selected on to the Team of the Matchday. Pompeu recorded his first goal of the season, becoming the fourth different player to score for CITY SC across all competitions this season. Pompeu now has three goals and five assists for CITY SC across all competitions over the past two seasons.

Adeniran continued his strong early season form against New York City FC, scoring his second goal of the season in his second MLS game. Among all MLS players (49) who have tallied at least one goal this year, Adeniran sits sixth in goals per 90 with a 1.62 mark after scoring his two goals in 111 minutes of MLS play this year. With his goal against New York, Adeniran notched the 10th MLS goal of his career, with all 10 goals coming in his last 16 MLS games.

The match this weekend will mark the third meeting between the two teams, with St. Louis earning a win in the previous two matches. CITY SC opened its inaugural MLS campaign away to Austin FC with a 3-2 win last season, thanks to goals from Tim Parker, Jared Stroud and a late strike from João Klauss. The result kickstarted St. Louis’ historic regular-season campaign, which culminated with the team winning their first five matches, a feat that had never been accomplished by an MLS expansion team.

In the return fixture at CITYPARK, St. Louis earned a 6-3 victory in a thrilling matchup that saw goals from Parker, Niko Gioacchini (2), Adeniran (2) and Tomáš Ostrák. Midfielder Eduard Löwen played an instrumental role in both fixtures, recording two assists at Q2 Stadium and a hattrick of assists at CITYPARK. With his five assists against Austin FC, Löwen holds the record for most assists against the Verde and Black.

Austin FC lost 2-1 against Minnesota United FC in their season opener at Q2 Stadium before earning a point on the road against Seattle Sounders.  Austin finished last season with a 7-6-4 home record where they scored 28 goals and conceded 22.
