The result marked the first time in CITY SC history that the team picked up a win against the Whitecaps at BC Place. Vancouver opened the scoring through Emmanuel Sabbi in the third minute before St. Louis responded with three goals in 22 minutes to seal the victory and extend their unbeaten streak to 14 matches across all competitions. Â
Simon Becher leveled the scoring for CITY SC in the 23rd minute, notching his first goal against his former team. Later in the first half, CITY SC’s two Norwegian wingbacks Tomas Totland and Conrad Wallem got in on the action with a goal each. Carlo Holse, Alex Matan (2), Wallem, Totland and Edelman earned assists in the match. CITY SC’s newly acquired forwards Rafael Navarro and Damion Downs also made their debut in the win.Â

With the performance, CITY SC was heavily represented in the league’s Team of the Matchday roster, with Conrad Wallem and Tomas Totland earning a spot on the squad after notching a goal and an assist each against Vancouver. Head coach Yoann Damet was also selected as the coach of the matchday, marking his second appearance on the squad this season. The win was Damet’s 10th of the regular season and marked the first time since the 2023 MLS season that the club has won 10 matches.Â

Wednesday’s match will be the first meeting of the season between the two sides.
