In their last match against Austin FC, St. Louis came from behind twice to earn a point on the road. Austin FC opened the scoring in the 14th minute through Matt Hedges, before Eduard Löwen slotted in a penalty kick just after halftime to level the score. The Verde and Black regained the lead shortly after from a Julio Cascante header but Célio Pompeu’s late equalizer secured a point and kept the team’s unbeaten streak alive.

Following his late game heroics, Pompeu was named to the Team of the Matchday squad for the second straight week. Pompeu has increased his goal tally to two goals this season, doing so in the last two matches. The midfielder now has three goal contributions in three matches, tying his tally from last season in 23 less matches.

Löwen’s converted penalty kick marked his first goal of the season and his sixth goal contribution (one goal, five assists) all-time against Austin FC. The midfielder now has seven goals and 15 assists in 32 regular season matches.

The upcoming match will mark the third meeting between the two clubs, with both teams searching for the first win of the series (0-0-2 record). CITY SC and LA Galaxy tied 1-1 in the first match at CITYPARK last season and 2-2 at Dignity Health Sports Park in the away fixture. In both matches CITY SC took the lead first.

Both teams come into the match undefeated with a record of 1-0-2. CITY SC has scored five goals and conceded three while LA Galaxy has scored six goals and conceded four.

LA Galaxy tied their MLS opener against Inter Miami (2-2) before recording their first win of the season against San Jose Earthquakes (3-1).
