Murphy joins CITY2 after serving as assistant coach for Union Omaha in USL League One, helping the team to the title in his first season in 2021. Prior to his stint in Omaha, Murphy was an assistant coach at Rio Grande Valley FC. In the MLS. he served as the assistant coach for Orlando City SC, where he was also the technical coordinator for the club’s academy program. During his time with Orlando, Murphy also served as interim head coach on two occasions. From 2003 to 2016, Murphy was the academy director at St. Stephen’s Episcopal School in Texas – one of only four residential soccer academies in the country. Prior to his time with St. Stephen’s Episcopal School, Murphy was the director of coaching for the South Texas Youth Soccer Association.
