PERSONAL QUALITIES REQUIRED OF A HOMESTAY PLAYER

THE PLAYER IS EXPECTED TO:
- Understand and follow homestay rules and expectations.
- Communicate with homestay family daily, particularly if there are changes, illnesses, and injuries.
- Communicate schedule and needs to Academy & parents as needed.
- Be responsible for schoolwork.
- Independently wake up and go to sleep.
- Be timely in homestay departures, pick-ups, and arrivals.
- Know how to do laundry and prepare/cook food if permitted by homestay family.
- Understand and complete homestay chores and offer additional help when possible.
- Engage with homestay family.
- Keep his room, his bathroom, and common spaces clean in a prompt and appropriate manner.
- Say “Excuse me,” “Please,” and “Thank You” exhibiting appropriate manners.
THE PLAYER'S FAMILY'S RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Being a “safe place” by actively knowing what is going on with the player’s mental and physical health.
- Communicating with the homestay family and the Academy with openness, flexibility, and honesty.
- Knowing how the player is doing with his schoolwork and academic progress.
- Being active in discipline of the player.
- Being proactive with money and having a plan for expenses outside of what the Academy stipend covers.
- Always keeping the player’s family health insurance up to date.
- Taking responsibilities from the homestay family when appropriate.
- Finding lots of ways to thank the homestay family.
